Usually, I'd suspect the DNS Client service is running.

You can check and disable this by;

1. Click Start
2. In the search (Run) box, type;

services.msc

3. Click OK
4. Scroll down to DNS Client
5. Right click and select Properties
6. Click Stop
7. Set the Startup Type dropdown box to Disabled
8. Click Apply -> OK
9. Restart your computer

Once re-started, re-launch HostsMan and try ticking them again

I went to DNS Client and it was already disabled. I did not bother with restart.

Unfortunately, if the DNS Client service is already disabled, and you're unable to tick the other two boxes, there isn't anything else I can suggest.

It wasn't for lack of trying Steven. Your efforts were much appreciated. Is there any other way to get updates? Just wondering.

HostsMan will update with the two you've got ticked, but you wouldn't get the partial updates (released daily).

You can try adding the following source manually;

http://hosts-file.net/hphosts-partial.asp

Load HostsMan, click Edit Sources, then Add and paste the above URL

http://hosts-file.net/hphosts-partial.asp doesn't contain 127.0.0.1 ;)

URL to add to sources:

Code:
http://hosts-file.net/hphosts-partial.asp

When I open the menu bar, the edit option is greyed out. See attached.

You don't load the URL in the browser.

Load HostsMan, click Hosts > Manage Update Sources, and add the URL as a source. See attached screenshot.
