Oops. Something didn't work. Perhaps I shouldn't have browsed to etc. In any case, the HOST will not work. See attached.

Please follow the instructions people give you, to the letter. Failing to do so, shows things don't work as expected. The advice given in the Malwarebytes forum has been sound.

1. Download;

http://hosts-file.net/download/hpHosts-Setup-Win32.exe

2. Once downloaded, double click the file
3. Follow the instructions in the installer
4. Restart your computer

Hello Steven,

Thank you for your patience and the extra help you extended to me to help me undo my oops moment. My Hosts file is up and running. Not that I would want to mess with it again but does it have auto updating capabilities?

Anne

That particular one does not, no. You'll need HostsMan for that.

To install HostsMan;

1. Download;

http://hostsman2.it-mate.co.uk/HostsMan ... taller.zip

2. Once downloaded, double click the file, you'll see an installer, double click it
3. Follow the installer instructions
4. Configure the sources*

* I've created a video showing both the download/installation, and how to configure it. This is located at;

https://malwarebytes.box.com/s/xupvd4n6jtni54nfvtt4

Can you try this one please?

http://temp.it-mate.co.uk/hostsman_video.avi

To select the sources, click "Select sources" and tick;

1. MVPS Hosts
2. hpHosts
3. hpHosts (Partial)
4. Malware Domain List

Then click "Check for Updates"

If you get a dialog notifying you the Windows DNS Client service is running;

1. Download the attached file
2. Double click the file
3. Click "Extract All"
4. Right click the extracted file and select "Run as Administrator"

Finally, restart your computer

For some reason, when I double-click on the Hostsman zip, I get sent to a file instead of a download wizard. See attached.

Anne,
The file you can see inside the zip, is the installer. All you need to do is double click "HostsMan_Setup"

I did not get to a point where I was asked to configure the sources.
