Hello,

I wanted to update my Host file and one thing led to another and now I don't have a Host file and miss it greatly. If I can get it back I promise not to mess with it ever again. See attached.

Anne

You can find the downloads at;

http://hosts-file.net/?s=Download

If all you need is the basic default Windows HOSTS file, you'll want this one;

http://hosts-file.net/download/WinDef_Hosts.zip

Hello Steven,

Thanks for your timely reply. I am not entirely certain which link I should use. I want a version of HOSTS file that will have maximum coverage from all banners and pop-ups with easy update maintenance.

Thanks,
Anne

Anne,
Sorry for taking so long.

In that case, I'd suggest using HostsMan (from my friend at Abelhadigital.com). It'll install hpHosts (amongst others) and keep it auto-updated for you.

Right click the file name and select 'Run as administrator'. This will then allow the program to be installed with those rights.

It is a zipped file on my desktop. When I right click on it, will it extract on the desktop and then be ready to download to etc. when I click on the open files as the administrator?

Extract the .zip to your desktop (or a location of your choice) then open the folder and you should see the installer. Right click that and 'run as administrator'.

Save the .zip to your desktop or downloads folder. The right click the zip file and select extract. You will then see a new folder appear with the uncompressed data within. Simply navigate to the installer .exe and right click this selecting run as administrator.
