I ran into the same exact problem. I don't think it is rare, every Snow Leopard should have the same issue.

And I just made a guide for this actually: http://fatbloke.tumblr.com/post/7228329 ... ng-dnsmasq

Hope it helps!

PS, please use the non-mac file: hosts.zip - not mac_hosts.zip - Mac version doesn't work (even as a vanilla HOSTS file), I don't think it is compatible with Snow Leopard.

Worked like a charm EXCEPT these two specific items:

1) mate /usr/local/etc/dnsmasq.conf
2) sudo cp /usr/local/Cellar/dnsmasq/2.55/uk.org.thekelleys.dnsmasq.plist /Library/LaunchDaemons/

I noticed these lines were part of one of the scripts, probabably where you got them for your documentation.

/usr/local/Cellar/dnsmasq/2.55/ is not longer valid. The package contents have been changed to: /usr/local/Cellar/dnsmasq/2.57/

mate /usr/local/etc/dnsmasq.conf is not a valid command. I assume it's a typo and should be "make".
Consider using: touch /usr/local/etc/dnsmasq.conf

Works fine once I worked around those two inconsitencies. Just thought you should know.

Thanks for this!

Hello!

Yeah, those two lines are a bit ambiguous. Didn't see the post here so I replied on the site, but I'll paste it here for convenience:

"mate" refers to TextMate, a popular text editor on Mac. This is what I use to edit files, so I left it as-is and just dropped a comment next to it. The file doesn't exist on that path, but the editor should create it.

Yep, "2.55" is a version number which will need to be changed if you install a different version.

I should probably clarify those.

Thanks for feedback!
