AVG, the Czech antivirus company, has announced a new privacy policy in which it boldly and openly admits it will collect user details and sell them to online advertisers for the purpose of continuing to fund its freemium-based products.

This new privacy policy is slated to come into effect starting October 15, and the company has published a blog post explaining the decision to go this route, along with the full privacy policy's content, so users can read it in advance and decide on their own if they want to use its services or not.

Amazing.... the company that should protect your privacy, proudly announces it will break it. I do not have evidences, but judging by how openly and easy they state of this nonsense, I have no doubt they were doing it before. Bad practice, especially for AV.

Using AV is giving users chances to be maximally protected and feel safe online and offline. Monetization is good as long as there is common sense. Paying your privacy for protection is making this "protection" useless, that way is much easier to get online without such an AV... It's like when they will load viruses and trojans "from partners" on your PC for the purpose of protecting you from the rest threats.

Breaking privacy to protect privacy.... = rubbish.
