Hello,

I have a problem with both my laptop and desktop. Desktop first. I only have a backup HostsMan file and it is blocking my way to the PayPal website. To start. do I uninstall the backup one that is sitting in a file or just go ahead with a new download?

Anne

see attached

Update- I was hoping to get help soon. The way things are right now, I can't use PayPal to pay online bills that need attending to.

Sorry for the delay.

You can use a freshly downloaded one.

Down loading is a problem because when I try to access the download page I get the can not display page message. Should I get rid of the HostsMan backup file I displayed in an earlier thread in this topic to allow access to the download?

You can, yes. The following contains the original HOSTS file that is present before modification;

The link you Gave me will not load. Also, the current file I already have is a HBZ file that is proving very difficult to download or delete.

Okay, what do I do with the zip file I downloaded to my desk?

Update- I managed to download the HostsMan file. It has been a long time since I removed entries and so I need a quick tutorial.

Sorry for the delay.

To remove entries, load up HostsMan, click Tools -> Hostsman Editor, then tick the entries you wish to disable.

With regards to the file I attached, if you wanted to restore the HOSTS file to the default that comes with Windows, you just need to extract the file, and copy it to;

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

The instructions are not working for me even after I thought I deleted an entry. Is it possible to completely remove all Host content from machine and start from scratch? I still have rouge files that I think will still block sites.

How do I completely remove all files named Host? I seem to have some rogue host files that I think I should probably get rid of before I even think of installing a new HostsMan.

Update- It is 12-21-17 and I would really like to clean my machine of ALL Host files in my machine. I really need to get to s blocked website PayPal which is currently blocked.
