I am receiving errors when trying to create & use a Batch File. Error IDSE500 when trying to create it, Error 510 when it is being launched & the message "Can't find 'idsuite_run.bat' " when the computer is rebooted. Can anyone advise please?

Welcome to the forums Smile

That error indicates either;

1. Index.dat Suite cannot write to the specified directory.

To check this, try changing the batch file generation location in the programs settings.

2. Your security program is inadvertently detecting and subsequently deleting the file prior to the generation finishing.

Your security program should normally tell you if this is the case.

Thank you for your responses to my query.
My OS is Windows XP Media Centre, which includes SP2 plus all Windows Updates to date.

The Batch file location is shown as C:\idsuite_run.bat , I wouldn't know where else to put it, as I presume it will need to be in the root directory to be activated. Can you advise please?

I am not receiving any messages from security software when the error messages are shown.

The batch file can be ran from any folder. Where permissions or such are an issue, the Desktop or My Documents folder is usually preferred.

Thank you again. I've now designated the Batch file to a Batch file folder inside the index.dat suite. When trying to create a Batch file from a list of files, I have saved the results from the index.dat search & this turns out to be a "results.ids" file, however the Batch file creation seems to be looking for a .txt file! I am puzzled, can you help please?
Regards
David Moore

The results file just saves a list of files found, this can be ignored unless required for historical or comparison purposes.

The batch file itself, can be moved via;

Tools > Settings > Files > Batch File

This file, when moved, must be done so using the .bat extension. If you'd like to check the specific setting for this in the config file, open Index.dat_Suite.ini (located in the same folder as the IDSuite.exe executable), and locate the line containing;

Batch_Filename=

If this setting does NOT have a .bat extension, change it to .bat, then save and close the config file.
